Snoring Facts

  • Snoring takes place when the air passage is impeded, therefore inhibiting simple and normal breathing during sleep.


  • When awake the muscles of the throat keep the throat open but when asleep these muscles go into a relax mode & sag inward. When they relax too much they block the breathing passage and snoring occurs.


  • Snoring can be caused by a nasal blockage (i.e. when somebody has a cold) and as the personal is force to breathe through their mouth they can begin to snore. The uvula can block the back of the throat if the tongue pushes it back when the mouth is open.
