I had a severe case of snoring.

In my youth it was a problem going on trips with friends - my snoring would keep them awake all night.

Snoring Facts

  • Snoring occurs when the air passage is hindered, thus inhibiting usual and easy breathing while asleep.


  • Muscles in the throat, which are open while the body is awake, relax and sag during sleep. Snoring results from the muscles relaxing too much and blocking the throat.


  • Nasal blockages can cause snoring because the person has to breathe through their mouth. The back of the throat can be obstructed by the uvula when the mouth is open and the tongue is forced back.


  • The sound of snoring varies with the degree of obstruction.
