- Snoring occurs when the air passage is hindered, thus inhibiting usual and easy breathing while asleep.
- Snoring becomes louder as the muscles relax more.
- Snoring can be caused by a nasal blockage (i.e. when somebody has a cold) and as the personal is force to breathe through their mouth they can begin to snore. The tongue is pushed back when the mouth is open, and makes the uvula to press against the throat.
- Muscles in the airway are kept open when you are awake, but sag inwards during sleep. When they relax too much they block the breathing passage and snoring occurs.
