Why do I get heartburn?
You can obtain heartburn and acid reflux in various ways. Some of these can be: An over acidic stomach, eating a large meal, H. pylori bacterium, digestive problems, or a damaged lower esophageal sphincter.
A damaged LES (lower esophageal sphincter) and esophagus is the most common reason for heartburn. Injury from heartburn can vary from being minor to being extensive. Nevertheless, it can be cured - and quite simply too!
People experience heartburn, acid reflux etc. because the stomach acid fumes come in contact with the lesions on their esophagus. When they come into contact it will cause pain - like your chest is burning inside. It feels similar to getting acidic vinegar in an open wound.
Drinking orange or tomato juice can be a painful experience for someone with esophagus lesions, as the acid in the juice will burn their throat. Clearly, people that don't suffer from that pain don't get heartburn or acid reflux because their digestive organs are in good working order.

What is Heartburn?
Heartburn is a chest pain (behind the breast bone), best described like an ongoing scalding feeling. It can sometimes be felt closer to the back of the body than the front. Almost everyone experiences heartburn at some time in their lives. In truth, heartburn is not about the heart - it is a digestive trouble. Meals and posture are the usual culprit for heartburn, so it can frequently be resolved with indigestion remedies.
What Causes Heartburn?
Stomach acid is used to digest food. You suffer heartburn when miniscule amounts of stomach acid come up into the gullet (esophagus) - this is called reflux.
