Why do I get heartburn?
Heartburn and acid reflux can have different causes. Some of these are: Eating a large meal, H. pylori bacterium, digestive problems, an over acidic stomach or a damaged lower esophageal sphincter.
A damaged LES (lower esophageal sphincter) and esophagus is the main reason people suffer from heartburn. Sometimes this heartburn damage is minimal and other times it is quite severe. However it can be fixed very easily!
Heartburn and acid reflux occurs when vapors from the stomach acid makes contact with the sores on the esophagus. This can be very painful - like the sensation that the chest is being burnt from inside. It is the same painful feeling as getting acidic vinegar in a cut.

What is Heartburn?
Heartburn is a pain in the cheat (behind the breast bone), and feels like a ‘burning’ sensation. Pain can also be felt in the same region but toward the person's back. Most people suffer from heartburn at some point in their lives. Although the name may lead you to believe heartburn is a heart condition, it is really a digestive problem. Heartburn is generally related to meals and posture and can often be relieved by remedies for indigestion.
What Causes Heartburn?
The body uses acid in the stomach to digest food. You suffer heartburn when miniscule amounts of stomach acid come up into the gullet (esophagus) - this event is named reflux.
