Why do I get heartburn?
Heartburn and acid reflux can have different causes. Some are: Digestive problems, an over acidic stomach, eating a large meal, H. pylori bacterium, or a damaged lower esophageal sphincter.
A damaged LES (lower esophageal sphincter) and esophagus is the most common reason for heartburn. Sometimes this damage from heartburn is negligible and other times it is very bad. However it is easily cured!
Stomach acid fumes coming into contact with lacerations on their esophagus is the cause of heartburn, acid reflux. This can be very painful - like the sensation that the chest is being burnt from inside. Ever get any acidic vinegar on a cut? Hurts doesn’t it?
People who have lesions on their esophagus would have a hard time drinking tomato, orange or any other acidic juice, because it would react with the sores and cause pain. People who don't feel this pain don't get heartburn or acid reflux because their digestive system has no problems.

What is Heartburn?
Heartburn is a soreness underneath the breast bone, and feels like scalding water is sitting in your chest. It can also be felt in line with the heart but closer to the person's back. The pain of heartburn is felt by nearly everyone at some point. Although the name heartburn leads us to believe it is a heart-based problem, it is really a problem with the digestive system. Heartburn can often be fixed by taking medication for indigestion. This is because it is usually linked to meals or posture.
What Causes Heartburn?
The body uses acid in the stomach to digest food. You suffer heartburn when miniscule amounts of stomach acid come up into the gullet (esophagus) - this ascension is called reflux.
