People usually suffer from heartburn because they have a damaged lower esophageal sphincter and esophagus. Injury from heartburn can vary from being minor to being extensive. Nonetheless it can be solved in a very straightforward way!

Stomach acid fumes coming into contact with lacerations on their esophagus is the cause of heartburn, acid reflux. When acid fumes or acid come in contact with the lesions in your esophagus they will cause pain - like your chest is burning inside. Ever get any acidic vinegar on a cut? Hurts doesn’t it?

If someone is experiencing pain when they drink acidic juice (like orange or tomato) they probably have a damaged esophagus. People that don't suffer this pain clearly never get heartburn or acid reflux because their digestive system has no problems.
