Why do I get acid reflux?

Acid reflux and heartburn can be the result of a variety of things. Some of these can be: A damaged lower esophageal sphincter, an over acidic stomach, eating a large meal, H. pylori bacterium or digestive problems.

Acid reflux is most commonly caused by a damaged lower esophageal sphincter and esophagus. Injury from acid reflux can vary from being minor to being extensive. Nevertheless, it can be cured - and quite simply too!

People experience acid reflux and heartburn because the wounds on their esophagus are exposed to stomach acid fumes. This can be very painful - best described as a burning sensation in the chest. Have you ever got acidic vinegar on a wound? It hurts!

Drinking orange or tomato juice can be a painful experience for someone with esophagus lesions, as the acid in the juice will burn their throat. People who don't feel this pain don't get acid reflux or heartburn because their digestive system is working effectively.

Can I Correct It?

Certainly! Complete relief from acid reflux has been found by 90% of the people who have read my publication. They are now living unhindered by pain, anxiety, belching and embarrassment. You could join them!

What is Acid Reflux?

Acid Reflux - heartburn diagram Acid Reflux is called Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. Acid reflux (GERD) is the condition in which the liquid content of the stomach regurgitates (backs up, or refluxes) into the esophagus. GERD can occasionally be confused with infrequent heartburn because heartburn is the most common indicator of acid reflux disease. While regular heartburn is only very occasional, GERD heartburn usually happens at least twice a week for at least 12 weeks, and can injure your esophagus.

The disease occurs when the ascension of stomach acid into the esophagus is regular enough to damage the esophagus and/or have consequences on you day-to-day living. A muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) is located at the top of your stomach, which ordinarily opens and closes to let food in. In addition, it shelters the esophagus by preventing stomach acid from refluxing. With GERD, the LES opens at the incorrect time, allowing the harmful stomach acid into the esophagus.

Acid reflux disease can also lead to more serious medical conditions that call for hospitalization and perhaps surgery. Wheezing or coughing is another symptom of GERD, and occurs when the person gets acid into their lungs. GERD suffers can also develop a sore throat if the acid reaches it. If acid gets all the way into the mouth, it can begin to dissolve tooth enamel.. More on Acid Reflux
