Why do I get acid reflux?
Acid reflux and heartburn can have several origins. A damaged lower esophageal sphincter, an over acidic stomach, eating a large meal, H. pylori bacterium or digestive problems.
Acid reflux is most commonly caused by a damaged lower esophageal sphincter and esophagus. Sometimes this damage from acid reflux is negligible and other times it is very bad. However it can be fixed very easily!
Acid reflux and heartburn occurs when vapors from the stomach acid makes contact with the sores on the esophagus. This can hurt a lot - a feeling like your chest is being scalded from the inside. The pain is similar to getting acidic vinegar on a cut.
Orange or tomato juice can cause pain for people the esophagus damage, as the acid in the drinks comes in contact with the sores causes pain. Clearly, if someone doesn't get that pain they won't suffer from acid reflux or heartburn because their digestive organs are in good working order.

What is Acid Reflux?
Acid Reflux often called GERD - an abbreviation of the medical term Gastroesophageal reflux disease. The regurgitation of stomach acid into the esophagus is the condition of Acid reflux (GERD). Acid reflux disease can sometimes be taken for irregular heartburn because that is the most common symptom! Normal heartburn is much more infrequent that the acid reflux disease symptom of heartburn, which usually happens two or more days a week for a minimum of 12 weeks, and can harm your esophagus.
GERD occurs when the stomach acid rising into the esophagus is common enough to damage the esophagus and/or have consequences on you day-to-day living. Located at the top of your stomach is a muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which lets food in by opening and shutting. In addition, it shelters the esophagus by preventing stomach acid from refluxing. The LES will open at inappropriate times if someone suffers from GERD, exposing the esophagus to stomach acid.
GERD can lead to more acute medical problems that require hospitalization and even surgery. Some acid reflux patients can develop a wheeze or cough. This is the result of stomach acid making its way into the lungs. Regurgitation of acid into the throat can create a sore throat. If acid gets into the mouth it can corrode tooth enamel..
