Why do I get acid reflux?
Acid reflux and heartburn can be the result of a variety of things. Some of these include: Digestive problems, an over acidic stomach, eating a large meal, H. pylori bacterium, or a damaged lower esophageal sphincter.
Acid reflux is most commonly caused by a damaged lower esophageal sphincter and esophagus. The injury from acid reflux can be small or large. However it can be fixed very easily!
When stomach acid vapors touches lesions on the esophagus acid reflux and heartburn is experienced. When they come into contact it will cause pain - a burning sensation in the chest area. It's best compared to getting acidic vinegar on an open cut.
Pain can be felt if you drink tomato or orange juice and the acid in the juice comes into contact with grazes on the esophagus. Evidently, if drinking acidic juice doesn't cause someone pain they probably never get acid reflux or heartburn because their digestive organs are working properly.

What is Acid Reflux?
Acid Reflux often called GERD - an abbreviation of the medical term Gastroesophageal reflux disease. The regurgitation of stomach acid into the esophagus is the condition of Acid reflux (GERD). GERD can occasionally be confused with infrequent heartburn because heartburn is the most common indicator of acid reflux disease. Unlike heartburn, symptoms of acid reflux disease generally occur two or more days a week for at least 3 months and can damage your esophagus.
Acid reflux disease occurs when the rise of stomach acid into the esophagus is happens enough to result in changes to your daily life and/or hurt the esophagus. Situated at the crown of the stomach is a muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter, or the LES, which permits food to enter by opening and closing. It also prevents the acid in your stomach from backing up into your esophagus. With GERD, the LES opens at inappropriate times, letting acid come up from the stomach and into the esophagus.
GERD can lead to more acute medical problems that demand clinical treatment, and sometimes surgery. GERD can sometimes result in acid making its way into the lungs - causing causing coughing or wheezing. Sore throats are sometimes an indication of GERD, as the acid has burnt it. If acid reaches the mouth, it can dissolve the enamel of the teeth. More on Acid Reflux
