Why do I get acid reflux?
Acid reflux and heartburn can have several origins. Some are: H. pylori bacterium, an over acidic stomach, eating a large meal, digestive problems or a damaged lower esophageal sphincter.
Acid reflux is most commonly caused by a damaged lower esophageal sphincter and esophagus. The injury from acid reflux can be small or large. Nonetheless it is simple to cure!
People experience acid reflux, heartburn etc. because the stomach acid fumes come in contact with the lesions on their esophagus. When acid fumes or acid come in contact with the lesions in your esophagus they will cause pain - like a burning feeling in the chest. Ever get any acidic vinegar on a cut? Hurts doesn’t it?

What is Acid Reflux?
Acid Reflux is medically called Gastroesophageal reflux disease, commonly referred to as GERD. Acid reflux (GERD) is the condition where stomach acid is regurgitated into the esophagus. Acid reflux disease can sometimes be taken for irregular heartburn because heartburn is the biggest indicator of GERD. Regular heartburn is much less frequent than the heartburn symptom of GERD - which usually occurs at least two days a week for at least 3 months and can damage your esophagus.
Acid reflux disease occurs when the reflux of stomach acid into the esophagus is frequent enough to damage the esophagus and/or control your daily life. Located at the top of your stomach is a muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which permits food to enter by opening and closing. It also works to stop stomach acid from refluxing into your esophagus. With GERD, the LES opens at inappropriate times, exposing the esophagus to stomach acid.
Acid reflux disease can result in major health problems that need hospital treatment. Some people who suffer from acid reflux disease can get stomach acid in their lungs and start wheezing or coughing. Sore throats are sometimes an indication of GERD, as the acid has burnt it.
