Why do I get acid reflux?
You can get acid reflux and heartburn from a number of different things. Some are: Digestive problems, an over acidic stomach, eating a large meal, H. pylori bacterium, or a damaged lower esophageal sphincter.
Acid reflux is most commonly caused by a damaged lower esophageal sphincter and esophagus. The acid reflux hurt can be tiny, or it can be huge. However it is easily cured!
When stomach acid vapors touches lesions on the esophagus acid reflux and heartburn is experienced. This will be sore - like a burning feeling in the chest. It's the same kind of pain as getting acidic vinegar on a cut.
Drinking orange or tomato juice can be a painful experience for someone with esophagus lesions, as the acid in the juice will burn their throat. Clearly, if someone doesn't get that pain they won't suffer from acid reflux or heartburn because their digestive system is in good health.

What is Acid Reflux?
Medically, Acid Reflux is named Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. Acid reflux (GERD) is the condition where stomach acid is regurgitated into the esophagus. Acid reflux is frequently wrongly taken for heartburn because heartburn is the most frequent symptom of GERD. While regular heartburn is only very occasional, GERD heartburn usually happens at least twice a week for no less than 12 weeks, and can harm your esophagus.
Acid reflux disease is when the acid rises into the esophagus repeatedly enough to influence the way you live your daily life and/or injure the esophagus. Positioned at the top of your stomach is a muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter, or the LES, which opens and shuts to let food enter. Also, it shields the esophagus by blocking stomach acid from it. With GERD, the LES opens at inappropriate times, opening up the esophagus and allowing stomach acid to come into contact with it.
The disease can lead to severe health issues that require hospitalization and even surgery. Some suffers of GERD can find they develop a wheeze or cough because stomach acid gets into their lungs.
