Why do I get acid reflux?

You can get acid reflux and heartburn from a number of different things. Some are: H. pylori bacterium, an over acidic stomach, eating a large meal, digestive problems or a damaged lower esophageal sphincter.

Most people experience acid reflux because of a damaged (LES) lower esophageal sphincter and esophagus. The injury from acid reflux can be small or large. Nonetheless it is simple to cure!

People experience acid reflux, heartburn etc. because the stomach acid fumes come in contact with the lesions on their esophagus. This can cause a lot of pain - like the sensation that the chest is being burnt from inside. The pain is similar to getting acidic vinegar on a cut.

When people drink orange or tomato juice the acid in the drinks comes in direct contact with the sores and lesions on the esophagus and it causes pain. People that don’t have pain don't get acid reflux or heartburn because their digestive organs are in good working order.

Can I Correct It?

Yes! Around 90% of the people who have tried my treatment have never suffered from acid reflux again. They are now loving a life that is no longer weighed down by pain, anxiety and embarrassing belching. You can be one of them!

I spent months learning why my body was giving me so much grief. I eventually succeeded in finding out what really causes acid reflux and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

What is Acid Reflux?

Acid Reflux - heartburn diagram Acid Reflux often called GERD - an abbreviation of the medical term Gastroesophageal reflux disease. Acid reflux (GERD) is the condition where stomach acid is regurgitated into the esophagus. GERD can occasionally be confused with infrequent heartburn because that is the most common symptom! Unlike heartburn, symptoms of acid reflux disease generally occur two or more days a week for no less than 12 weeks, and can harm your esophagus.

Acid reflux disease is when the acid rises into the esophagus repeatedly enough to damage the esophagus and/or control your daily life. At the top of the stomach there is a muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter, or LES, which ordinarily opens and closes to let food in. In addition, it stops stomach acid coming backing up into the esophagus and damaging it. With GERD, the LES opens at inappropriate times, exposing the esophagus to stomach acid.

The disease can lead to severe health issues that require hospitalization and even surgery. GERD can sometimes result in acid making its way into the lungs - causing causing coughing or wheezing. If stomach acid gets all the way up into the throat, it can result in pain (or a 'sore throat'). If acid reaches the mouth, it can dissolve the enamel of the teeth. More on Acid Reflux
