Why do I get acid reflux?
You can get acid reflux and heartburn from a number of different things. Some of these can be: Eating a large meal, H. pylori bacterium, digestive problems, an over acidic stomach or a damaged lower esophageal sphincter.
The majority of people experience acid reflux because they have damaged their (LES) lower esophageal sphincter and esophagus. Sometimes this damage from acid reflux is negligible and other times it is very bad. However it is simple to eliminate!
Acid reflux, heartburn happens when abrasions on the esophagus are brought into contact with fumes from the stomach acid. When acid fumes or acid come in contact with the lesions in your esophagus they will cause pain - a sense of burning in the chest region. It's best compared to getting acidic vinegar on an open cut.
Orange or tomato juice can cause pain for people the esophagus damage, as the acid in the drinks comes in contact with the sores causes pain. People who don't feel this pain don't get acid reflux or heartburn because their digestive organs are in good working order.
Can I Correct It?

What is Acid Reflux?
Acid Reflux is called Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD. Acid reflux (GERD) is the condition where stomach acid is regurgitated into the esophagus. Acid reflux is often confused with intermittent heartburn because heartburn is the most common indicator of acid reflux disease. While normal heartburn is very irregular, the heartburn symptoms of acid reflux usually appear twice a week for a minimum of 12 weeks, and can harm your esophagus.
The disease occurs when the ascension of stomach acid into the esophagus is regular enough to damage the esophagus and/or have consequences on you day-to-day living. A muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) is located at the top of your stomach, which opens and shuts to let food enter. It also prevents the acid in your stomach from backing up into your esophagus. With GERD, the LES opens at the incorrect time, opening up the esophagus and allowing stomach acid to come into contact with it.
It can then lead to significant problems that require hospitalization and even surgery. In some acid reflux patients, acid can be regurgitated into the lungs, causing wheezing or cough. A sore throat in acid reflux suffers is the result of acid burning the throat. If acid reaches the mouth, it can dissolve the enamel of the teeth. More on Acid Reflux
