Why do I get acid reflux?
Acid reflux and heartburn can be the result of a variety of things. Some of these include: A damaged lower esophageal sphincter, an over acidic stomach, eating a large meal, H. pylori bacterium or digestive problems.
The majority of people experience acid reflux because they have damaged their (LES) lower esophageal sphincter and esophagus. acid reflux damage is sometimes nominal, but it is sometimes extreme. Nevertheless, it can be cured - and quite simply too!
People get acid reflux and heartburn when stomach acid vapor and esophagus lesions come into contact. This will result in pain - like a feeling of scalding in the chest area. Ever get any acidic vinegar on a cut? Hurts doesn’t it?
If you have lesions on your esophagus, you will feel pain when you drink orange or tomato juice (because of the acid in the juice). People that don’t have pain don't get acid reflux or heartburn because their digestive system is in good health.

What is Acid Reflux?
GERD is the most common name for Acid Reflux. It is the acronym of the medical term Gastroesophageal reflux disease. Acid reflux (GERD) is the occurrence of stomach acid being regurgitated (back up, or refluxed) into the gullet (esophagus). GERD is often erroneously taken as sporadic heartburn because heartburn is the biggest indicator of GERD. While regular heartburn is only very occasional, GERD heartburn usually happens at least twice a week for at least three months, and can badly injure your esophagus.
The disease occurs when the ascension of stomach acid into the esophagus is regular enough to impact your daily life and/or damage the esophagus. A muscle called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) is located at the top of your stomach, which opens and shuts to let food enter. It also prevents the acid in your stomach from backing up into your esophagus. With Acid Reflux disease, the LES opens at the wrong moments, allowing acid from the stomach to get into the esophagus, where it doesn't belong.
The disease can lead to severe health issues that necessitate hospital stays and possibly surgery. Some suffers of GERD can find they develop a wheeze or cough because stomach acid gets into their lungs. Regurgitation of acid into the throat can create a sore throat.
