Why do I get acid reflux?

Acid reflux and heartburn can have different causes. Some of these include: Digestive problems, a damaged lower esophageal sphincter, an over acidic stomach, eating a large meal or H. pylori bacterium.

Most people experience acid reflux because of a damaged (LES) lower esophageal sphincter and esophagus. The pain of acid reflux can very from being quite insignificant to debilitating. However it can be corrected - and quite easily too!

Acid reflux and heartburn occurs when vapors from the stomach acid makes contact with the sores on the esophagus. This can cause a lot of pain - like your chest is burning inside. The pain is similar to getting acidic vinegar on a cut.

If someone is experiencing pain when they drink acidic juice (like orange or tomato) they probably have a damaged esophagus. People that don’t have pain, obviously never get acid reflux or heartburn because their digestive system is in good health.
